Meet the Doctors
Kelsey McDonald, DO
Dr Kelsey McDonald is a board certified osteopathic family medicine physician with over 8 years of clinical experience. She is the founder and primary provider at Coastline Direct Primary Care. She knew she wanted to be a physician and serve the community she lived in since she was a young child. Upon graduating from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine she paired her interests and goals and chose a career in family medicine. Dr McDonald loves the variety of patient care visits she sees. She appreciates challenging clinical cases and enjoys in office hands on procedures. Her greatest passion, however, is in prevention of chronic disease and promotion of health and wellness. Dr McDonald understands that each patient is unique and therefore their treatment plan should be as well.
While Dr McDonald enjoys full spectrum family medicine (without obstetrics) she has particular interests in adolescent care, women's health, as well as obesity and lifestyle medicine. She has also had the privilege to develop an interest in caring for older adults and people at end of life. While in college she provided home health and hospice care in her community and as a physician she understands the importance of patient autonomy, goals of care discussions and the complexity of care needs during this time. In addition, in 2019, Dr McDonald lost her brother Bryce to a drug overdose after a long battle with depression and a substance use disorder; she therefore has a unique space in her heart for people struggling with mental illness, substance use disorders and works diligently to create a safe space for them and their loved ones.
Over the last 5 years of her clinical practice, providing the quality care she prides herself on has become increasingly difficult. The inefficiencies in the traditional insurance based health care system often lead to delayed and fragmented care which affect both patient and provider experience and may lead to adverse health outcomes. Dr McDonald is excited and optimistic about transitioning to the direct primary care model. She feels this model will allow her to provide exceptional, affordable and timely care.
When not working, she loves to spend time with her husband John, a Scarborough native and their young children Grant & Grace. As a family, they love to ski, hike, garden & travel.

Sarah Gallo, MD
Dr. Sarah Gallo is a board certified family medicine physician who is thrilled to be joining Dr. Kelsey McDonald at her thriving practice. She appreciates the professional and personal connections she has built in Maine since moving here in 2010 and can’t imagine living anywhere else!
Upon graduating residency at Maine Medical Center, Dr. Gallo embraced full spectrum family medicine - building her outpatient practice while teaching in the hospital and delivering hundreds of babies. Eventually, she transitioned to outpatient primary care only (without obstetrics), as the demands of the system didn’t allow for this breadth of practice. Through her 10 years with Martins Point she loved the opportunity to develop longitudinal care for patients she came to know so well, seeing them through life’s triumphs and challenges. She valued the time she spent with patients, which allowed her to see the complexities of her patients beyond a diagnosis and treat the person, not the disease. She saw the benefit in providing information, not just prescriptions. This became impossible to do within the current model of healthcare and is not something she was willing to sacrifice, so knew when it was time to make a change.
When the opportunity arose to join Coastline DPC, it was an easy decision. Dr. Gallo shares Dr. McDonald’s drive to provide quality, patient-centered care to our community in a way that feels more grounded in humanity for both the provider and the patient. She is currently attending an online certificate program with University of Massachusetts Medical School to learn advanced mental health care. Diagnosing and treating mental health disorders has become her latest passion, in addition to her interests in women’s health and addiction medicine. Dr. Gallo will be offering outpatient primary care to children and adults.
She recently adopted an 8 year old dog, named Rumi, named after the poet. Dr. Gallo just completed her first book of poetry, and also loves gardening, traveling and live music.
